# PoW's Security Model

What makes a blockchain truly secure? This course reveals why **Proof-of-Work's security model is fundamentally different**—**and fundamentally superior—to all alternatives**. Unlike consensus mechanisms that rely on token ownership or trusted authorities, PoW grounds security in real-world resource expenditure, creating layers of protection that emerge from economic reality rather than assumptions about participant behavior. You'll discover how **Byzantine Fault Tolerance, Sybil attack resistance, and economic accountability** work together in PoW to create a security model where **honest behavior is always more profitable than attacks**. By the end of this course, you'll understand why PoW provides the only mathematically sound foundation for applications where data integrity cannot be compromised.
